Be Prepared for your Audition...

Be Prepared for your Audition...

This should go without saying. You have been "preparing" to "be prepared" your whole life. You prep for exams, sports, job interviews, etc., why wouldn't you come prepared for your audition?
This industry is very competitive, so if you're not going to take it seriously there will be someone else who will.

When you receive an audition announcement, always read it thoroughly and check to see if there are attachments.
-Make sure you know the role you are auditioning for.
-Take the time to think about wardrobe and hair/makeup for this role. Say the role is for a father in his late 30's, you'd wear slacks and a button-down shirt or something along those lines.
-If the role is nondescript, you can wear nice jeans and a plain top, preferably blue as it shows up best on camera.
Casting directors pick up on these things!!

This next point might be pretty obvious, but it needs to be said. Know your lines!!
-Print the sides out PRIOR to coming into an audition.
-If it is a busy audition day, the auditioning coordinator might not have time to wait for you to learn your lines.
-Practice with your family/friends so you have interaction and can get feedback.
-Practice in front of the mirror as it is always good to watch yourself so you know who it will look when it's recorded on camera.

Just remember, you are your own worst critic, so you probably sounds better than you think!
